January 10-11: 37th Annual Long Island Agricultural Forum

The Long Island Agricultural Forum is a two-day educational program for all those in the agriculture and ornamental horticulture industries. The planning committee has worked hard over the past months to develop a program that addresses the current needs of these industries as they pertain to Long Island. Details.

A class offered to get you started on your wine loving journey! We will discuss the basics of wine making, wine tasting, the Long Island wine region, and of course, the history of our beautiful Martha Clara Vineyards. Details.

January 14: Bolshoi Ballet Captured Live in HD: Taming of the Shrew

The Bolshoi is “at the top of its game” (Telegraph, U.K.) in acclaimed choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot’s effervescent production of The Taming of the Shrew. January 18: History of FDNY Fireboat “Firefighter” with Charlie Ritchie

Explore the significance of longest-serving fireboat in FDNY history, the “Firefighter” formally known as FDNY’s “Marine 9.” Learn about its design and construction, major fires and its role in the history of American technology and future construction of fireboats. Hear anecdotally storied from firefighters and mariners serving on the vessel over its 72-year long career. A short video will be shown with a following question and answer period regarding anything about the vessels life and history, recent shipyard work and volunteer restoration efforts. Presented by Charlie Ritchie, President of the Fireboat Fire Fighter Museum. Details.

Sound View + The Halyard host cooking demonstrations and classes with James Beard award winning Chef Galen Zamarra. The Halyard Restaurant, which recently opened at the end of summer 2017, features local fish, produce and wines from the North Fork and surrounding regions. Louisa Hargrave, co-founder of Hargrave Vineyard, LI’s first winery which opened in 1973, continues her series on the cycle of the vine and the resulting wine in Long Island’s vineyards.
