The June 14 Update

People increasingly realize the North Fork is a fantastic place for wine tasting & wine-centric events, but they don’t know that we have a vibrant arts scene and many cultural events.

The East End Seaport Museum, which every summer stages the Greenport Maritime Festival and runs weekly cruises to Bug Light, also offers a dynamic series of lectures and workshops each summer. Speakers include a local artist & bayman; a historian and author; a workshop involves making Japanese fish prints; Chef Noah demonstrates his culinary talents; talk topics also include wood boat building, steamboats, tugs, Greenport history and much more. The series starts June 23 and runs weekly (on varying days) through August 25.

A different kind of cultural event is Sparkling Pointe’s annual Carnaval. Authentically Brazilian, it features Samba Novo, a performance of Brazilian drummers, dancers and Samba queens. Tickets (at the door only) include a glass of sparkling and a keepsake flute, additional sparkling and food pairings on offer. July 22.
