Last Saturday the Long Island wine community gathered at Martha Clara Vineyards to celebrate winemaking on the East End, sample local artisan food-craft, and pay homage to the late pioneers who contributed so much to the L.I. wine industry. The even marks a departure from the celeb-chef studded annual galas of previous years, hence the “Back to Our Roots” moniker. Despite this change over 700 tickets were sold and Harvest was a successful event for both wineries and vendors alike. Favorites like Harbes sweet corn and local oysters complimented the usual wine tasting experience provided by Long Island Wine Council participants.
