Monday Music In Mitchell Park, Greenport

Greenport’s Mitchell Park is a treasure–wide open green space on the water, home to events throughout the year. An old school carousel complete with a chance to grab the brass ring and a camera obscura add to the fun. All summer on Mondays the village stages concerts, each week a different genre, and people come out to dance, picnic and just enjoy the fun in the stunning setting. Skateboard Auction, Sweet Corn Festival, Lieb Oysterfest

Among the many fun happenings last week was a special art exhibit/fundraiser for the Greenport Skate Park–skateboard art silently auctioned.  Another big hit was Harbes’ Sweet Corn Festival, which included a kid-friendly corn eating contest. This contest was a race to finish a freshly roasted, butter coated ear, not one of the how-much-can-someone-cram-into-his-belly kind of contest.
